This LA indie electro-pop band has such a unique and well-developed sound it’s hard to believe they’re only putting out their first full-length record.  With fluctuant vocals reminiscent of a higher- pitched Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade), an experimental nature the likes of which Animal Collective fans will appreciate, and a vibe that’s purely ‘80’s dance party-esque, White Arrows marries the old and the new in a way that keeps the genre looking forward.  It’s clear that elements of their music and especially their use of video have been inspired by singer Mickey Church’s having been mostly blind from birth until age 11.  His development as an artist who has been forced to experience the world through sound and who has seen the world in an entirely different way help mold White Arrows’ work into something abstract and original that reminds us that music is art. —Kirsten Sabotnik
